Why Beltana?
Beltana got its name after a city north of Adelaide in Southern Australia that is known for its existence against all odds, much like my journey to becoming a Registered Dietitian. At the age of 21, after my Dad passed away from stage IV brain cancer, I quit my full time job to go to college two weeks before classes started with no way to pay for it. I used all the money from my second summer job to fund my first year, but knew I would need a different plan. My second year of college I enlisted in the Colorado Air National Guard and served our state and country while also going to school full time. At the end of college I applied for my dietetic internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as one of the last steps towards becoming a Dietitian with no back up plan in case I wasn't accepted. Against all odds, I was accepted and able to move to Nashville, Tennessee for the program. Continuing my "against the grain" approach, I decided to jump right into private practice as my way of serving my community. My dream for Beltana Nutrition is to start a grass-roots health revolution where people feel empowered and confident to make their own health choices and live their healthiest life.
